You’re never too old for a comfortable smile!

Teeth come loose—and even fall out—for a variety of reasons including old age, accidents, and improper hygiene. When you begin to suffer bone loss in the mouth, or when too many teeth become loose and fall out, impacting your ability to speak and eat, it may be time to consider dentures.

Our team at Platinum Dental Care in Providence understands that dentures can be a major adjustment. We are here to keep you comfortable and informed throughout every step of the process!

With us, you are always put first! Learn if you can benefit from dentures by scheduling your consultation today!

Fitting and Placing Dentures

The specifics as to how your dentures are fitted and placed depends on what kind of dentures you are getting—partial or full. Partial dentures require a framework built into the mouth and rely on the strength and support of the remaining teeth.

For full dentures, all remaining teeth may need to be removed. If this is the case, the dentist will use an anesthetic to ensure your comfort. However, this will require time for your gums to heal. After the tooth removal, the dentist will fit you with a temporary set of dentures to use while your gums recover. Full dentures are created in a laboratory from a mold taken of your mouth, so you can rest assured that they will be a perfect fit!

Not only will our kind, compassionate dentists help you find the right type of dentures for you, they will give you tips for how to prepare for—and care for—your dentures!

Adjusting to

Dentures

  • Minor irritation and soreness are completely normal after the initial placement and will fade with time.
  • Insertion and removal may initially cause some discomfort, but will eventually feel normal and natural!
  • Dentures may feel ill-fitting or uncomfortable until your cheek and tongue muscles adjust to them.
  • Not sure dentures are the right choice? Ask about dental implants!
